When it comes to switching up my interiors, the seasonal transition from summer to autumn is one of my favourites to style up; adding more textures, adding warmer tones and layering makes me love my home even more, however for this Autumn, I didn't want to just add a few cushions here and there I wanted to create a new space that I could hunker down in, read a good book, get cosy and drink lots of tea! So when the amazing team at Wayfair asked me to join in their Autumn colour challenge style, I was so excited to get creating a new space to enjoy as the night's get longer.
I wanted to create something in the kitchen space, that felt homely, cosy and inviting. The kitchen space is huge, and the main feature is that wonderful kitchen of mine, but I wanted to create somewhere that allowed me to bring in some texture, was a feature but was practical too. With the help of Wayfair, I managed to create this wonderfully sumptuous space perfect for having a sit down, a flick through the latest interior mags with a hot cup of tea. Now let me take you through my new pieces.
Adding a rug to any space allows an additional texture to be added, whether you go for a wool blend or something else it is perfect for adding an autumnal vibe to your space, the best thing about adding a rug is that you can have some real fun now a days with the huge range of colours available. Go really warm with oranges and reds, or try similar to me, a darker tone with a pop of warm orange - pink! I just love this tone in an autumn colour pallet something a little different to the usual tones you see.
It will take a lot for me to move away from my Scandinavian tones, not just because I love them, but until now I didn't realise how versatile the colour pallets were and how easy it was to add additional colour alongside them. This rug is exactly the bright but with a slightly worn vibe I was looking for and I love the multiple tones against the grey herringbone flooring.
I love how it looks against midcentury IKEA chair and to add even more texture to the space I've added in a Cowboy Kate sheepie and a bright yellow velvet cushion from H&M Home.
The rug has added a new texture to the space and, most importantly, it is so soft on your toes; perfect for those colder evenings. The detail on this piece is so wonderful; the colours used are so warm and the use of print add something luxurious to this cosy space.
So autumn and winter for me is all about making your interiors easier ensuring the space is low effort but maximum cosiness and one of the features I added to this space is this gorgeous side table. I have been after a gold and marble side table for ever, but with still a lot of finishing off jobs required at Number Five I just haven't been able to find anything in budget, until I spotted this on Wayfair, it looks so much more luxurious than it's price tag!
Beautiful long legs, a faux marble top, the right height and perfect size to pop on some autumnal blooms with space for your book, cup of tea and a candle too. Its a beautiful versatile piece that could be used anywhere in the home, but for me it is staying here, as it is a gorgeous piece that holds its own against the amazing print of the rug.
The side table also allows you to have an additional styling area which can be changed up at any time, adding some new autumnal coloured blooms (faux or real) a new vase, or a collection of candles to burn to get super cosy. The lovely faux marble top is such a great background to add whatever autumnal colour back ground you fancy!
The Ladder Shelf
I wanted a statement in this room, nothing shouty, but something tall that would be versatile enough for me to switch up, and with a nod to easy interiors somewhere to store books, candles and such. When I spotted this lovely ladder shelf in white, I thought would look so great against my blush walls, but allow the accessories to really sing and show off.
I love how the ladder shelf ties in with the beautiful side table and means its easy to link in similar colours (in this instance I've linked the yellow of the cushion with a yellow-ochre vase and book spines). I love how easy it is to use this piece, it is a real classic and can't wait for the oddities and books on the shelf to get darker and darker as we go through Autumn to Winter.
Finally, you guys know my love of copper, and how could I not add a gorgeous copper basket into this space in the kitchen to add additional storage for throws and magazines. Again, these pieces are so versatile that you can make them what you want it to be, add colourful throws, add cushions or add logs; baskets are such an easy way to add even more textures, but the great things is they can be transferred so easily to a different space, so if you feel you bedroom needs more texture, take the basket of throws into the bedroom and add into a corner or by the bedside table.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing Number Five get autumn ready! This post was sponsored by Wayfair. I will only share products and brands that I think you readers will love too!
