Who else is getting guest ready for the festive season? Even though getting the home ready for guests takes a lot of time, effort, styling and faffing there is something so wonderful about others enjoying time in your home and the spaces you have created, in particular when you hear guests say they have had a great night's sleep. However, the guest bedroom is always a tricky space to decorate and style. Every one wants their guest room to feel comfortable and cosy but wants to sure that their style and personality is in the room, the two can be hard to marry up but adding home comforts, textures and a few hotel style touches will make any guest feel right at home.
The lovely team at Wayfair challenged me to create a welcome basket for my guests this Christmas. The Zeller baskets are perfect for storing all those little goodies for your guests! I love adding a few home comforts and hotel style goodies to make sure my guests have the loveliest of stays at Number Five!
These baskets are such a wonderful, neutral design that they will look amazing in any room scheme and add an extra special something to your decor and styling. They allow you to put everything in one place so the room can look tidy and fuss free whilst your guests are staying.
The two roomy baskets that can be filled with anything; I've used mine to store mini toiletries as I love anything that is mini, cosy socks and home comforts like tea bags and mini chocolates but add whatever you think your guests will need. You may have that friend who always forgets their charger (guilty!) so pop one in their basket. You may have a friend who has trouble sleeping so pop some pillow spray in the basket as a lovely thoughtful treat.
I just love how versatile these baskets are and can be a fabulous way of wrapping presents. Add some tissue paper, the gift, tie the basket up with ribbon and you have a beautifully wrapped present that some one can use in their home too.
They also look so great styled up on shelving units or on storage cupboards. Keep a basket full of guest goodies in the room, for any of those friends that end up staying over because they have had one too many proseccos!
And here are my top tips for getting guest ready
Make sure your guests have cosy, clean bed linen - there is nothing lovelier than getting into clean, crisp sheets.
Add home comforts - make sure pillows, throws and extra blankets are visible or your guests know where to find them. Have the wifi code on a piece of paper and always have an extra charger!
Hotel vibes - mini toiletries always make me think of hotel stays and nights away. I collect mine throughout the year and store them away for Christmas when I can share them with guests. The Zeller baskets allow you to be really organised and create the guest packs way in advance and the baskets are lovely enough to store and be on show any time of the year.
Festive touches - It is Christmas after all! I've added a tiny tinsel tree for a little kitsch Christmas, however lovely foliage works just as well.
Make your guests feel special - fresh flowers, a little 'thank you for coming to stay' gift or a book they have been talking about wanting to read are all lovely treats to make any guest feel welcomed and special.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on getting guest ready and the lovely things you've done for guests in the past.
This post was in collaboration with Wayfair. As always I only share brands that I love and that you will too. All styling. thoughts and words are my own.
