I've always wanted an office space of my own; a space to be inspired by, to create and feel energised about my projects. That space has now come true and I'm ready to reveal my office to all you lovely readers. But first, lets start at the beginning.
We created the office space using the third bedroom, for four years it's sole purpose was to store junk in; you know the stuff, those 'may be we will use it' items and those first time buyer purchases you think you will need when you first move in and never, ever use. After an epic clear out, sell off and tip run we were finally able to see the carpet and I got started on what I wanted my dream office space to look like.
I knew I wanted something to tie in with the rest of the home; those greys and blushes that feature so heavily at Number Five were a necessity, mid century was a must have, greenery had it's part to play and I needed somewhere to store my design books and show off my favourite bits and bobs that inspired and made me smile.
I really do love it when the idea of a room comes together.
I am so thrilled with the space; with my dream desk from West Elm which was a well done present to myself after a great 2017, a spare ercol chair painted in Valspar's Peaceful Soul and plenty of greenery and inspiration surrounding me.
I picked a beautiful Ferm Living Confetti wallpaper from Dot Maison for the wall that my desk faces and styled with Gray Malin pictures, they aren't originals, I cut some of my favourites from his Beaches book and framed.
As a Cancer I am always inspired by water and Australia was one of my highlights last year - and Bondi Icebergs made me cry I loved it so much!
The rest of the room is painted in Blackened by Farrow and Ball, it's a gorgeous white grey that looks so lovely in this light filled room and compliments the Ferm Living wallpaper so well. I loved this colour so much I even painted the previously black plant stand the same colour.
I wanted my desk to be usable but have my creature comforts surrounding my work space. I've put all my lovely Jo Malone candle and crystal on this lovely tray i picked up in Copenhagen, alongside a pot of pencils for whenever inspo and words take me! I've also added my wonderful Google Home Mini, I use to note down ideas, Google things and play music too such a versatile piece of tech - I'd be little lost without it now!
On the other side of the desk I have a lamp for those late nights and a spot for a cuppa to keep me going! I've styled with lovely tulips, is that spring i can hear?
I just love those tulips against that confetti wall!
We had some House Doctor brackets left after I decided to go for one long shelf in the kitchen, and decided the office would be a perfect place for me to use them. We made the shelves our self again, picking up some timber, cutting the shelf to size and painting in Blackened to tie in the wall. The shelves are looking minimalist for now, but I'm sure I will start filling them up the more I use this space.
This Ingrid Petrie print was once of the first Instagram enabled purchased way back when and are very wise words to live by. I've paired with this amazing HEMA vase I purchased running through Victoria Station!
Perfect details: Candle from the wonderful Arc Candles (this is tuberose and is such a beautiful scent!) cacti print from mum and dad purchased in South Africa and my first pottery purchased from Leach Pottery in St Ives.
I didn't just want this space to be a 'sit at the desk all the time' kind of room reminiscent of the day job, I wanted it to be a space where I could read and be inspired. The wonderful team at Sloane and Sons invited me to try out one of their wing backed chairs and I couldn't say no! It was scandi grey, had great legs and there was the perfect spot in the office for it!
I've added a little patterned fun with this leopard print cushion from H&M Home (i'm sorry it was purchased years back!)
Right next to the chair is where all the interior magazines live so I can grab a cuppa and flick through gathering inspiration for new and exciting projects!
Beautiful morning light in the room - making this the perfect spot for a morning cuppa and Interior magazine binge!
Thank you Sloane and Sons for the perfect new addition to the office - it's perfect!
I can't wait to start using this room for more blogging (I promise there are many inspiring post coming up!) exciting projects and getting Number Five Interiors off the ground. We've already started our first project... and here's a sneak peak & I can't wait to show more soon...
There are some gifted products within this post, however I only work with and share brands that I love and that I think you will love to.
